Biography

Elita Cistola is born in 1984 in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP), Italy. She developed a deep passion for singing in her childhood and started her musical education early. She participated in several competitions and in television broadcasts for young talents. Cistola studied opera singing and pronunciation (diction) with the soprano Carla Laudi in Teramo. In 2009 she finished her Bachelor studies in Literature, Music and Theatre at the University "La Sapienza", Rom. Thereafter she studied solo singing at the Conservatory "Gaetano Braga" in Teramo with the soprano Stefania Donzelli and graduated (Bachelor) with a Summa CumLaude, the highest possible grade.

 In 2010 Cistola participated in a production by “Laboratorio Ensemble” directed by Federico Paci. In this production Cistola performed together with the actor Roberto Marinelli in the Theatre “Margherita” in Ascoli Piceno and developed especially the art of recitativo and improvisation. An important turning point of her career was when she got acquainted with the international renowned bass Roberto Scandiuzzi. His impact on her musical expression was great and thank him she refined her selection of repertoire. Scandiuzzi and Cistola cooperated in the Theatre San Carlo in Naples and in the National Opera of Lyon, France.

In 2014 Elita Cistola moved to the musical capital Vienna and brought her voice to perfection with the soprano Julia Conwell. In June 2015 she made her debut with the role Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte, W.A. Mozart) directed by Robert Simma and Elena Gertcheva (musical direction). The performances took place in Vienna and other locations in Austria.

In 2016 Cistola performed as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, W. A. Mozart) and in 2017 as Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute, W. A. Mozart) in the staging by Robert Simma on various stages in Vienna. In these productions she enchanted her audience with her dramatic, agile voice and her impressive presence on stage.

In addition to Fiordiligi and Donna Anna her repertoire consists of the roles such as Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute, W. A. Mozart); Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann, J. Offenbach), Amina (La Sonnambula, V. Bellini), Norina (Don Pasquale, G. Donizetti), Fiakermilli (Arabella, R. Strauss) and Marie (Lafille de regiment, G. Donizetti).

Elita Cistola took part in master classes with Elena Gertcheva and Michael Schefts in Vienna, where the focus lay on the combination of text, music, song and theatre. Besides Italian Cistola masters German, French and English. She refined her pronunciation of German with Günther Strahlegger from Vienna Volksoper, i.a. for the role Queen of the Night. Elita Cistola energetic presence on stage and especially her powerful voice has captured the audience in numerous concerts and performances in Italy, Austria and France.

On August 28, 2018 Elita will make her debut with the Mythos opera Festival (with Enrico Stinchelli, Maria Dragoni, Mattew Leifer, Roberto Cresca, Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, Kozeta Prifti) as Annina in their production of “La Traviata”, by G.Verdi (director, Filippo Arlia, Chorus Master, Francesco Costa) in the famous Teatro Greco in Taormina, Sicily.
